To ensure a clean, safe, and enjoyable kitchen environment for all guests, please adhere to the following rules:
1. Cleanliness:
- Wash Your Hands: Always wash your hands thoroughly before handling any food.
- Clean as You Go: Wipe down surfaces and clean utensils and appliances immediately after use.
- Dishwashing: Rinse all plates, glasses, and utensils and place them properly in the dishwasher located next to the sink. Pots and pans must be washed thoroughly by hand, dried, and put away.
2. Food Storage:
- Label Your Food: Clearly label your food items with your name and check-out date. Use provided stickers or markers.
- Proper Storage: Store food in designated areas only (fridge, freezer, pantry). Do not leave perishable items out.
- Expired Food: Regularly check and dispose of any expired or spoiled food.
3. Shared Equipment:
- Respect Equipment: Use kitchen appliances, utensils, and tools with care. Report any damages or malfunctions to the staff immediately.
- Return Items: Return all shared items to their proper places after use.
4. Cooking:
- Safety First: Do not leave cooking food unattended. Use kitchen timers to avoid burning food.
- Ventilation: Use the exhaust fan while cooking to minimize smoke and odors.
- Fire Safety: Know the location of fire extinguishers and how to use them.
5. Waste Management:
- Dispose Properly: Use designated bins for recyclables, compost, and trash. Follow the labeling on the bins.
- Minimize Waste: Be mindful of portion sizes to avoid food waste.
6. Courtesy to Others:
- Shared Space: Be considerate of others needing to use the kitchen. Limit your time during peak hours.
- Noise Levels: Keep noise to a minimum, especially during early mornings and late evenings.
- Personal Belongings: Do not leave personal items or food on counters or tables.
7. Compliance:
- Adhere to Rules: Follow all kitchen rules and posted guidelines.
- Staff Instructions: Comply with any additional instructions given by hostel staff.
8. Kitchen Use:
- Restricted Hours: Cooking is not allowed between 07:00 and 10:00, between 16:30 and 18:30, or after 23:00 without host permission due to insurance and operational requirements.
9. Kitchen Rights & Privileges:
- General Use: You may use the kitchen at all times unless specifically prohibited.
- Cleaning Requirement: Use of the kitchen is conditional on cleaning up as instructed. Failure to do so will result in a $50.00 housekeeping (cleanup) fee.
Cleaning Guidelines:
- After Use:Clean up after each use. This includes:
- Washing: Rinse all plates, glasses, and utensils and place them in the dishwasher. Wash pots and pans thoroughly by hand, dry them, and put them away.
- Surface Cleaning: Clean the stove, counters, and sink.
- Putting Away: Return all dishes and utensils to their rightful place.
